Save PDF pages as images and add page numbers
When to choose PNG or JPG, how to export page ranges and how page numbering stays in the PDF.
Use PDF to images for slides, preview pictures or a document page as a graphic. Use Add PDF page numbers if the result should remain a PDF with text. Both tools create new files locally in your browser.
PNG, JPG or keep the PDF?
PNG suits pages with fine text and graphics because its image compression introduces no additional lossy artifacts. JPG may be smaller for photo-heavy pages but can leave visible artifacts around text. Compare downloaded files.
An image has no selectable PDF text, forms or clickable document links. If you only need to change order or page numbers, keep the PDF format.
Example: export just three pages
Open PDF to images, choose your PDF and enter 2–4 as the page range. PNG at 144 dpi is a useful starting point. After export, download page-002.png through page-004.png individually or together in a ZIP.
Resolution controls pixel dimensions: an A4 page of approximately 595 × 842 PDF points becomes about 1,190 × 1,684 pixels at 144 dpi. More dpi cannot automatically sharpen blurry source images.
Add numbers without turning pages into images
In Add PDF page numbers, choose a start number and a free position at the bottom. Starting at 5 for three pages, “number / last number” produces 5 / 7, 6 / 7 and 7 / 7. The tool does not remove existing numbers.
Open the result and check footers and rotated pages in particular. New numbers are overlaid on existing content. Digital signatures do not remain valid after editing.
Limits and large documents
Both tools allow at most 50 MB and 200 PDF pages. Image export handles up to 30 selected pages, 12 megapixels per page and 100 MB total image output. Large pages need lower dpi.
For a long report, use Extract PDF pages to create a smaller section first. Password-protected or damaged PDFs are rejected. Your original file stays unchanged on your device.
