It shows that the calculated hash matches the entered reference. The tool does not verify whether that reference is trustworthy. Names and dates do not affect the hash; file bytes do.
Input: Any file and an optional expected hexadecimal checksum. Output: File hash, algorithm, file size and optional match result. Limits: Max. 50 MB. Requires HTTPS or localhost and Web Crypto. The file is read fully into memory. Matching checksums do not replace malware scanning or a trusted source.
