How does this tool work: Redact PDF?
Free, no sign-up, right in your browser. Open a PDF; “Redact” is already active. Drag a rectangle over each sensitive area. Keep “save securely as images” enabled when saving.
Why is a black rectangle alone not enough?
A normal rectangle only sits on top of the text, which can still be copied or searched. ToolMint therefore rebuilds every page with a redaction as an image on save. Check the result by selecting or searching the redacted area.
What inputs, outputs and limits apply?
Input: One PDF. Output: PDF in which redacted pages are rebuilt as images. Limits: Up to 100 MB per PDF and 500 pages in total. Password-protected PDFs are rejected; permission-protected PDFs are kept as images. Text editing works on real text layers, not on scans (no OCR). Changes invalidate digital signatures of the original file.

Practical example
Before sending a payslip, redact the tax ID, IBAN and address. Only the affected page is saved as an image; the other pages stay searchable.

Good to know
These tools do not send your inputs to a server. Your web host processes technical connection data when you visit the site.
Password-protected or damaged PDFs are rejected. Editing invalidates PDF signatures.
